Tyranny of the Known
I wonder when human beings will begin to become a bit more curious, humble, introspective and independently minded.
I wonder when human beings will begin to think a little bit more in terms of shades of grey, nuance and paradoxical relationship, rather than simply in terms of black and white.
I wonder when people will stop stoking the great divide, and begin to look once again towards the terrain that is common between us all.
I wonder when human beings will begin to let go their arrogance, false facade, and insistence upon being right, and look towards the cultivation of true integrity, true beauty, and truth.
The truth is always in the paradox.
This is something that has taken me a long time to begin to comprehend ; that circumstances are not all good or all bad, that human beings are likewise (usually) not all good or all bad; that the great mystery is very real, and that it benefits us to walk towards this paradoxical reality with some humility, authenticity, integrity and an open heart and mind. For without the cultivation of these basic traits, we are prone to falsehood, deception and profound indoctrination.
We may be indoctrinated by any ideology. But freedom from the tyranny of the known only begins to occur when we start to shed the personal veils in place which serve to keep us from the beauty of the unknown, and the truth of the mystery itself.
